Junior defenseman Mike Amodeo was one of the Ottawa Nationals' first selections in the 1972 General Player Draft. He joined the Nationals and the diminutive rearguard was a steady presence on the blue line for the franchise in both Ottawa and Toronto over the course of the next four seasons.
Following the 1975-1976 season, Amodeo left the Toronto Toros and joined Orebro IK in Sweden, where he was scouted by Dr. Gerry Wilson of the Winnipeg Jets. After the 1977-1978 season in which he was regarded as the top defender playing in Sweden, the Jets signed Amodeo for the stretch run and was part of their AVCO Cup championship team that season. He re-signed with the Jets for the 1978-1979 season and was again part of another AVCO Cup championship.
Amodeo remained with the Jets for one season following their entry into the NHL before returning to Orebro and eventually finishing his career in Italy. |
