Following more than a decade with the NHL's Boston Bruins, Ted Green signed with the New England Whalers.
As the Whalers' captain, he led them to an Eastern Division title and the AVCO Cup championship in 1972-1973.
Following two more seasons with the Whalers, he was traded to the Winnipeg Jets, where he led the Jets to AVCO Cup championships in 1975-1976 and again in 1977-1978.
The 1978-1979 season was a difficult one for Green, who was forced to retire in January due to problems with arthritic knees.
In Winnipeg, Green was one of the more outspoken players on the Jets' roster in favor of the many European players the Jets brought in that helped revolutionize the game. |
