Danny Gruen left the NHL's Detroit Red Wings to sign a three-year contract with the Michigan Stags in the summer of 1974. After 34 games with the Stags, Gruen refused to follow the franchise to Baltimore and instead opted to sign with the Winnipeg Jets. He finished the 1974-1975 season with the Jets, but after a disappointing and brief tenure in Winnipeg, Gruen signed with the Cleveland Crusaders during the summer of 1975. He remained with the franchise when it relocated to Minnesota for the 1976-1977 season, but his contract was purchased by the Calgary Cowboys after the franchise folded in January 1977.
After one game with the Cowboys, Gruen joined the NHL's Colorado Rockies. He retired following the 1979-1980 season. |
