Following a long NHL career, veteran defenseman Larry Hillman joined the Cleveland Crusaders for the 1973-1974 season.
A stay-at-home defender, Hillman played two seasons in Cleveland before being claimed in the inter-league draft by the Winnipeg Jets in the summer of 1975.
Hillman played one season with the Jets and helped lead them to their first AVCO Cup championship.
Following the 1975-1976 season, Hillman joined the coaching ranks as an assistant to Joe Crozier with the Calgary Cowboys. After one season in Calgary, Hillman succeeded Bobby Kromm as the head coach of the Jets and led the Jets to their second AVCO Cup championship. He was dismissed late in the 1978-1979 season. |
