Fran Huck signed with the Winnipeg Jets early in the 1973-1974 season following two seasons in the St. Louis Blues' organization. Huck quickly became one of the Jets' offensive leaders and his 48 assists that season was second on the team.
Following an incident in which Huck left the Jets' last game of the playoffs during the second intermission, he signed with the Minnesota Fighting Saints during the off-season and he was a regular contributor until the franchise folded in February 1976.
Huck went to Switzerland in 1976-1977 as a playing coach but returned to the Jets late that year and provided some much-needed depth as the Jets advanced to their second consecutive AVCO Cup final. Huck was waived following a five-game stint with the Jets early in 1977-1978.
Huck was a two-time WHA All-Star selection and was the first Jet to capture the Molson Cup for most three star selections. He was also named the most popular player by the Jets Booster Club in 1973-1974. |
