Minor league veteran Lyle Moffat signed with the Cleveland Crusaders in the summer of 1975. After 33 games with the Crusaders, the former baseball prospect was traded to the Winnipeg Jets.

Moffat was a good skater who brought a strong work ethic to the Jets and he played a valuable supporting role in all three of the Jets' AVCO Cup championship teams.

Moffat remained in the Jets' organization for two seasons following their entry into the NHL. He went on to work in the Jets' front office after his playing career.
