Minor league veteran Bob Ash signed with the Winnipeg Jets in July 1972 after the Jets acquired his rights from the Minnesota Fighting Saints in exchange for the rights to Ted Hampson.

The diminutive rearguard was a regular for the Jets for two seasons before being selected by the expansion Indianapolis Racers during the summer of 1974. Ash played one season for the Racers before retiring.
